The honey from Salamanca MAES Honey is ready to continue growing. Alimarket has recently published a news about the improvement of the company’s facilities and its new objectives. Producer and exporter of top quality honey, MAES Honey has already put its recently renovated and expanded plant in Aldeatejada into operation.
Three million euros has been the cost of this improvement of their facilities, an investment that will allow them to significantly expand their capacity not only for production, but also for storage. After this reform, MAES Honey will be able to invoice up to 30 million euros.
MAES Honey opens its expanded plant
The opening of the new MAES Honey plant took place at the end of last August. The expansion has made it possible to double the square meters of working surface, before 7,500 and now 15,000.
The purpose of this increase in space is none other than to achieve greater logistics capacity that guarantees 100% correct supply of demand, as well as adequate service to customers. This decision was made after verifying that the sourcing and supply chains were not working optimally.
Regarding the bulk of production, the new MAES Honey plant now has, thanks to its improved infrastructure, an annual production capacity equivalent to 12,000 tons of crude.
In the past year, the exporter de miel from Salamanca had already managed to place no less than 8,500 tons of its product on the market, data that is consistent and similar to that of the previous year and that far exceeds the extracts obtained in previous years.
New plant: new goals
MAES Honey, in view of these figures, has set new objectives. In a period of five years they intend to achieve a production of 10,000 tons and an increase in sales that oscillates around 20%. This would allow the company to achieve income of more than 30 million euros.
Throughout the past year, MAES Honey reached a turnover of 25.66 million, with a forecast for next year of exceeding 9,000 tons in terms of production and 28 million in terms of billing.
The company communicates that, both nationally and internationally, they have a growth plan that is effectively being fulfilled. They also point out that they are already managing to reach new customers, as well as develop new brands and products.
Some of its latest innovations are the 500 gr and 1 Kg PET formats, an idea born due to the lack of supply in the glass industry and glass jars.
Origins of MAES Honey
Today, MAES Honey is a more than remarkable honey company. It has reached abroad and its products can be found in more than 30 countries. In addition, as far as Europe is concerned, Maes Honey is today the largest honey packaging company.
However, the company’s origins are most humble, having begun its history no less than in the year 1910. At that time, beekeeping was a simple means of subsistence for the ancestors of the company. They used the honey they obtained as barter in exchange for other products they might need on a daily basis.
Since its inception, MAES Honey opted for completely pure and natural honey, to which subsequent generations would contribute resources and knowledge that would further improve its quality and, of course, its productivity.
Trade began a few generations after barterers, but the first canning factory was opened not so long ago. The generation before the current MAES Honey beekeepers was in charge of this step towards the industrialization of the honey industry.
The success of MAES Honey
The success of MAES Honey is based on its ability and knowledge to correctly adapt to the globalized world. Thus, gradually and constantly, it has adapted its facilities to the needs of the market, expanding its packaging plants on several occasions prior to this.
For this reason, the honey bottling and exporting company from Salamanca today exhibits the most up-to-date and largest plant in the entire southern European continent.
Another of the keys to the success of MAES Honey is the incessant commitment to achieve a product of the highest quality. Not only does it have all the quality certifications, but it also exhibits the highest possible qualification (IFS, BRC, FDA, Kosher or Halal.) In addition, all the company’s products are subjected to rigorous and strict analysis in the best European laboratories.
All these aspects and a great dedication and passion for beekeeping is what has led MAES Honey to become a leader in honey exports.
