The importance of bees in the world

Bees are of paramount importance in the world. Thanks to these insects, many functions of our planet can be carried out. In particular, bees play an essential role in the environment.

They are mainly responsible for pollination, the process by which flowers reproduce and expand their species. Thanks to this contribution, the balance in many ecosystems is maintained, favouring the preservation of the corresponding living beings.

What do bees do?

Bees are arthropods belonging to the insect family. They swarm and live in hives. They function collectively, and in this way carry out hard-working activities that are also very beneficial to humans and the environment.

Humans make use of many products generated by bees. They work the materials for their own hives, resulting in products such as honey and wax. However, these animals have much more to offer our planet.

Bees are responsible for foraging, the process by which they collect nectar and pollen from flowers. The purpose of this work is to bring everything they need to store food and make new materials to their hive.

But also, indirectly, through this process they promote the pollination of flowers by transporting pollen from the stamens of some flowers to the stigmas of others. In this way, the flowers are able to carry out their reproductive function.

Bees and their importance in biodiversity

Through pollination, the flowers reproduce. The exchange of pollen between them is necessary, and other factors such as the wind play a role in this process. The truth is that bees are the main pollinating agents, the protagonists in the reproduction of flowers, as they are the ones who carry out this process most efficiently and precisely.

Thanks to them, multiple species of flowers are preserved and expand, giving rise to rich and populous fields and crops. Without the activity of bees, these crops would be ruined, and with them, all the products they could produce. Herein lies the great importance of bees in our world.

The flowers of many plant species are the basis of their reproduction, as they are where the seed is produced. Without them, many trees and plants would have become extinct. And without the work of bees, too.

Thanks to the annual work done by bees, species in ecosystems are kept in balance, because if any element in the food chain of an ecosystem were missing, the entire ecosystem would tend towards extinction.

Bees: protected species

Because of their importance in the biodiversity of species and the environment, bees are protected species by law. Their work was recognised as indispensable to our planet, and so it was intended to ensure the safety of the species.

Therefore, there is an article in which the protection of wild bee species by law is included. Beekeepers, who take care of the bees, also protect the species and take care of the preservation of the species.

Surely the work of bees and all the benefits they offer are undervalued. Not only the products without which our lives would be more complicated, but the work without which our lives would hardly exist.
